(Visarga-lopa Sandhi)
(Rule): When a Visarga preceded by the short vowel अ (a) is followed by any vowel other than short अ (a), the Visarga is dropped.
(Yaṇ Sandhi)
- नियमः (Rule): When short इ (i) is followed by a dissimilar vowel (here, ए / e), it transforms into the semivowel य् (y).
This occurs in two consecutive steps:
- श्चुत्व-सन्धिः (Ścutva Sandhi):
The dental त् (t) before a palatal श् (ś) turns into the palatal च् (c).
(Chatva Sandhi):
A श् (ś) following a stop consonant (like च्) optionally becomes छ् (ch) when followed by a vowel or semivowel (aṭ).
४.६३) $\implies \text{एतच्} + \text{शक्र} \to \text{एतच्छक्र}$
(Utva & Pūrvarūpa Sandhi)
(Rule): When a Visarga preceded by short अ (a) is followed by short अ (a), the Visarga becomes उ (u), which blends with the preceding अ to form ओ (o by Guṇa). Then, the following अ merges into ओ, indicated by the Avagraha (
१.११३) $\to \text{अम्बरीष} + \text{उ} + \text{अभिपन्नवान्} \to \text{अम्बरीषो}$
१.१०९) $\to \text{अम्बरीषोऽभिपन्नवान्}$
